Minus 46

In 10 days i will be at the start line of the Arrowhead 135 for a second straight year - this time as 'chaperone' to Tom Fisher, a local 17 year old budding adventurer.  The race takes place in International falls, which apparently is working to legally claim rights to the title 'ice-box of the nation', and for good reason.  Last night the ambient temperatures dropped to -46 degrees fahrenheit. I suppose at that temperature wind chill doesn't matter - if you're not completely covered up you're already screwed.

Tom has the goal of finishing in 30 hours (he's young, ambitious, and naive) - if we're to accomplish this we'll have to leave the cabin at the half way point around midnight and ride right through the coldest part of the night - i'm just hoping that it's a little warmer than yesterday.....
